Church Street School for Music and Art Community,
We are so excited to welcome Dr. Christina (“Chrissie”) Placilla to CSSMA as our new Executive Director. She comes to us with over 20 years of experience in community arts education having worked as both a music educator and administrator. See Chrissie’s bio here.
In her own words, Chrissie says, “I am looking forward to continuing the traditions that have made CSSMA a unique creative oasis in Tribeca, while looking for new opportunities to reach more New Yorkers and expand Church Street School for Music and Art’s community offerings.” Chrissie will join the team in December!
The arrival of our new Executive Director marks a transition for me. Many of you know that CSSMA has been my home away from home for over 20 years. I’ve been privileged to see countless students and families, including my own, find their creative voices and grow through the creative process at this amazing school. Everyone should have a place like CSSMA!
Now that we have secured a new director, I will be stepping down from my position at the school. While I will continue to work closely with Chrissie for the next several months, I will be heading back to my home state of Washington to start a new chapter in my life. I have cherished the opportunities CSSMA has given me professionally and personally and look forward to seeing your families grow creatively through the school’s unique approach and with the support of our dedicated faculty and staff.
Sincerely,
Betsy Kerlin
Interim Executive Director
