David Stone
Piano
Based in Pennsylvannia, David Stone is a pianist, composer, and programmer. In 2008, he earned his B.Mus. in classical piano from N.Y.U., studying with Eduardus Halim.
He is currently completing his Master’s degree in Film Scoring/Music Technology, also at N.Y.U., where he has studied composition with Ira Newborn and Sonny Kompanek. His current research interests are focused on music information retrieval, machine learning, and automated song-tagging, as well as applying interactive, multimedia, “gamified” solutions to music education.
His musical interests are broad and eclectic, ranging from classical to jazz to electronic and pop. He writes progressive electronic music under the name The Golden Age of Piracy, and freelances as a composer for film and television.
