Born in Sydney Australia, Jane studied classical piano from ages 5 through 17. From her early teens she had been developing a strong interest in jazz and after attending a jazz vocal workshop at the Sydney Conservatorium, the voice became Jane’s instrument of choice. Her first gig out of school was playing piano and singing two nights a week at a Sydney hotel. Solo gigs continued but at 19 when Jane had her first opportunity to sing with a band accompanying her, she felt a new sense of freedom. From this moment, singing jazz would become Jane’s main focus.

These days, Jane lives in NYC with husband, bassist Kevin Hailey. She appears at many venues in and around the city including Birdland Jazz club and 55 Bar. In addition, she teaches piano and voice. “I had two incredible teachers in my life so I know what a lasting impression a good teacher can have. I really try to inspire individual expression in my students as I believe everyone learns differently and sometimes, I become the student in my own classroom.”
