Joshua Hunton

Violin, Viola

Joshua Hunton is a New York-based violist, currently serving as principal viola for the Regina Opera Company and associate principal viola for the Classical Saxophone Project. As an avid freelancer, performances have brought him to Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, National Sawdust, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and other venues. He is the lead chamber music teaching coach at New York City’s Harmony Program. Mr. Hunton received his B.M. in Viola Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and his M.M. in Viola Performance and Advanced Certificate in Music Education from NYU Steinhardt. His teachers have included Stephanie Baer, Ronald Carbone, Masumi Rostad, Stephen Wyrczynski, Luis Vargas, and Peter Slowik.
