Morgan Harrington
Piano
Morgan Harrington is a composer, pianist, and interdisciplinary artist whose work bridges jazz, classical, and experimental media. He holds a B.F.A. in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance and a B.A. in History from UNC Asheville, an M.A. in Music (Composition and Classical Performance) from Radford University, and is currently completing an M.M. in Concert Composition at New York University.
As a performer and recording artist, Harrington has released Lipinsky Sessions (2019), a jazz trio album, and Three Vignettes (2024), a collection of original solo piano works released on the classical label PnOVA. His compositions—spanning chamber music to large ensemble works—have been performed by both student and professional ensembles, including the recent premiere of Elpis by the Contemporaneous Ensemble at NYU’s Paulson Center.
Harrington is the founder of TEND, a multimedia performance project created in collaboration with visual artist Ashleigh Hillen. The project explores the intersection of sound, image, and narrative through immersive, interdisciplinary performance.
In addition to his compositional work, Harrington maintains an active practice as a jazz pianist and church organist, with over a decade of performance experience. He has taught music since 2020, working with students aged four to seventy in both private and university settings. Complementing his artistic and educational practice, Harrington has several years of experience in social work, supporting individuals with severe developmental and intellectual disabilities.
