ABOUT TRIBECA COMMUNITY SCHOOL
TriBeCa Community School is a progressive preschool inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach. Now in their 20th school year, TCS remains committed to creating a learning environment where children feel seen, heard, and valued, a principle that has been at the core of their institution since the very beginning. “Relationships are at the heart of everything we do,” explained TCS Program Director Kristen Pallonetti, “we believe that learning should be rooted in wonder, exploration, and a deep respect for childhood”.At Tribeca Community School, children’s natural curiosity about the world is always at the forefront. Their program provides young students with meaningful experiences for play & exploration, while also nourishing their potential as individuals. “Through the use of painting, sculpting, music, science, storytelling, theater and other forms of self-expression, children are taught to give voice to their thoughts and ideas, as well as share their newfound discoveries and understandings.” (tribecacommunityschool.com)
TCS believes that cultivating this curiosity with careful listening and support is the key to successful lifelong learning. Their goal? To design conditions for learning that will benefit a child's "powers of thinking" by creating opportunities for self-expression and self-actualization.
CHURCH STREET SCHOOL & TRIBECA COMMUNITY SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP
The Tribeca Community School and Church Street School for Music & Art partnership was born of a desire to build strong neighborhood connections, better serve the people in our community, and share our dovetailing educational philosophies with our respective families and beyond! “We’ve always admired Church Street School for its commitment to joyful, accessible arts education,” said Kristen of her history with Church Street School. “ We hope this partnership will give our children meaningful opportunities to engage with music and visual arts in a way that supports their creativity, confidence, and self-expression”.
When asked what the Tribeca Community School team was most excited about for this partnership, Kristen was quick to speak on our potential to grow together. “We’re excited because CSSMA shares our values: honoring each child’s individuality, fostering community through the arts, and creating learning environments that are joyful and inclusive. The warmth, professionalism, and creativity of the CSSMA team is already evident, and we’re looking forward to building something meaningful together [...] we’re so happy to be joining the CSSMA community and look forward to a partnership full of inspiration and connection!”
As part of this new relationship with Tribeca Community School, Church Street School will be launching our Vacation Arts Pods, an all new school vacation program specifically designed for children age 2 - 5 years. This class will feature three hours of music, movement, free play, and visual art. All designed to promote the development of social, motor, and emotional skills through the arts. It is our hope that through this new program, and our partnership with Tribeca Community School, we are better able to serve the families in our community. Providing a creative and nourishing space for young children to move, grow learn, and explore when school is out and parents are at work.
