Portfolio Development

In this class, students will explore a wide range of art techniques and gain confidence in their personal artistic voice. We’ll talk about the students’ interests and/or uncertainties in art, and look to contemporary and historical artists for inspiration. From there, we’ll experiment with many different materials — from the expected to the unexpected, the sensible to the outrageous — including graphite, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, clay, found object sculpture, installation art, and more. The resulting portfolio will be rife with variation but echo a style unique to each student.
