One Week Adventures in Art

This summer, join Church Street School art teachers Bianca Dominguez and Romina Fernandez, for an exploration of different approaches to art. Students will build, paint, write, play games, and more. Art lessons will be supplemented by movement, theatre, field trips, and music workshops, leaving no creative possibility unexplored!


Early drop-off (9am) and late pick-up (5pm) are available.

Register for any of the last four weeks of One Week Adventures in Art and bring a friend, and we will give you both a 5% discount off weekly tuition. If you’re already registered you can still bring a friend! You will instead receive a credit if the friend registers to join your child in class.


Weekly Themes:

June 21 – 24: Adventures in Painting

Price is prorated to reflect shorter week

This week-long class explores the versatility and dynamic aspects of painting, considering size and format, materials and tools, history of painting, and so much more.


June 27 – July 1: Fashion Club

Ever dreamed of striking a pose on the catwalk in fashion that you designed? Learn the history of fashion, beautiful clothes, and design, construct, and style them for our very own fashion show.


July 5 – July 8: Self Expression Through Mixed Media

Price is prorated to reflect shorter week

Learn the art of self expression through listening to your inner voice. We will be inspired by art movements such as abstract expressionism, surrealism, and more, and experiment with dynamic art process such as collage, body painting, drawing, and watercolor painting.


July 11– July 15: Bookmaking, Folklore, & Storytelling

Take a deep dive into creative writing and symbology to illustrate your own book through the cultivation of personal myths and narratives inspired by folklore of South American traditions. Students will be hands-on as they explore book making, hand making paper, watercolor painting and drawing.


July 18 – July 22: Reconnecting to Nature Through Art

Environmental art making is an exploration of honoring the earth through art making, meditations and raising awareness around indigenous practices. This is an opportunity to dive deeper into natural dying, creating sculptures with natural objects, creating natural paints, weaving with natural objects, and creating nature installations.


July 25 – July 29: Mythology and Fantasy

A mixed media program including costume-making, story writing, fairy tales, film and more! Students will explore the mythology of the world and create work inspired by these myths.


August 1 – August 5: Textile Arts

Students will spend the week learning through experimentation and play within the world of fiber arts. Join a hands-on exploration of textile processes such as felting, tie dying, weaving, printing, and much more!


August 8 – August 12: Drawing Intensive

Students of all abilities build techniques for drawing from observation and imagination! This week explores still life, landscape, figures, narrative, and portraits. With sketchbooks in hand, students will experiment with a variety of drawing materials, including charcoal, graphite, conte crayon, chalk pastels, and India ink.


August 15 – August 19: Comics and Zines

Take a deep dive into the boundless possibilities of comic books and cartoons, and compile, author, and edit zines focused on any subject under the sun. Students will have the opportunity to explore the themes of their choice, ranging from serious to silly, fantastical to pragmatic. Along the way they'll draw, collage, tell stories, imagine, and take their ideas to the page.
