Fatima Logan-Alston, a native of Durham, North Carolina, is a versatile dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist specializing in Contemporary and Traditional Dance. Fatima graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA). Fatima toured with the African-American Dance Ensemble and Forces of Nature Dance Theater. Fatima has been Artist in Residence at Hunter College, Long Island University Post, Bronx Children’s Museum, Barnard College, and has taught Contemporary Dance at Gibney Dance. Fatima has performed with Bobby Sanabria, Paul Winters, Ntozake Shange, and has received written recognition for her commitment to dance education from Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor. She is currently a teaching artist with Young Audiences New York and Artistic Director of VashtiDance Theater. She recently joined the CSSMA faculty as an instructor in the WHEDco program at PS/IS 218 in the Bronx.
