Rosa Burke

Piano

Rosa Burke is a pianist, collaborator, and piano teacher from Staten Island, NY who currently resides in Manhattan. She is completing her Bachelor’s degree in Classical Piano Performance from SUNY Purchase while studying under the highly esteemed Stephanie Brown.

As an alumnus of the Church Street School herself, she closely recalls the struggles of a beginner student and the importance of a teacher who is kind, empathetic, and pushes students to be self-driven.

Some of her most beloved performances include her 2019 Duo Piano and Viola recital at Purchase College with violist Carolyn Miner and singing in the chorus of Mahler’s 2nd Symphony under the acclaimed conductor Keith Lockhart at Brevard Music Festival in 2019.

She is passionate about shining a light on female composers previously swept under the rug, performing works such as Rebecca Clarke’s Sonata for Viola and Piano and Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio Op. 17, as well as works by Nadia Boulanger, Lili Boulanger, and Louise Farrenc.

Rosa has participated in the Ithaca Piano Festival at Ithaca College as well as the Brevard Music Festival in North Carolina. She has won second prize of the Rondo Young Artist Festival Competition in 2016 and 2017, as well as the Edith Hirshtal Award for Artistic Excellence from CSSMA in 2017.
