John Gray

Piano, Guitar/Bass

John Gray is an experienced professional musician and educator, who has taught and played professionally since his arrival in New York in 2005.

John is an alumnus of Manhattan School of Music, studying jazz upright and electric bass and graduating in 2009.

John has been teaching private lessons on guitar, piano, bass and ukulele since 2011, teaching both privately, and in public and private schools and lesson programs. John is great at working with beginning students as well as more advanced ones.

As a teacher, John works hard to craft personalized lessons that foster a student’s love of music. John ensures his students are engaged in the music they are studying, and emphasizes study of the fundamentals of reading music and music theory, as well as learning how to play their instrument.

As a performer, John leads his own jazz group, The Jazz Thieves, his own pop group, The Brooklyn Hits, and has played bass in many others. John has also played with jazz stars James Moody and Wayne Bergeron, and Broadway legend Vivian Reed to name a few. Check out his website here.
