Richard holds a BA in Music and Journalism from Baruch College. The Brooklyn-born singer and guitarist has studied voice with Natalie Burgess and June Burgess, guitar with John Monaco, Stephen Grossman, Larry Coryell and Jorma Kaukonen, acting and dance at HB Studio, and early childhood music education at the Diller-Quaile School of Music. Over the past three decades Richard has performed at numerous folk and rock clubs in the New York area, undertaken solo tours of Denmark and Holland, and released a solo album, Blue Horses. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, New York, MOJO and assorted music magazines. The father of two Church Street School students, Richard is also the author of Get A Shot of Rhythm and Blues: The Arthur Alexander Story (University of Alabama Press, 2000). He performs under the auspices of Hospital Audiences and The Queens Library System and has recently released a kid-friendly CD, Gimme Gimme. Richard’s natural and enduring love of music and his affinity for children make every class a special event.
