The Dalcroze Method is total music education - not
just brainwork or fingerwork, but ears, mind and body working together.
Developed by Emil Jaques-Dalcroze at the turn of the century, this
method is designed to enhance the students’ musical responsiveness
and natural rhythmic sense through whole body involvement. Eurhythmics
students learn about the elements of music (such as rhythm, melody,
harmony, tempo, dynamics, phrasing and form) through singing, movement,
quick reaction listening games, rhythm ensemble and improvisation.
The Dalcroze Method was created for music students of all ages.
It is an ideal approach for the young child’s first music
experience, channeling physical energy and creativity through imaginative
play. For intermediate and advanced students it is a simpler way
to understand more complex music concepts. This method also offers
a unique alternative to traditional methods for the beginning adult. |
