Jacob Pleakis

Composer and pianist Jacob Pleakis was born and raised in Olean, NY. He received his B.M. in Jazz Studies from SUNY Purchase and his M.A. in Music Composition from NYU. In addition to scoring numerous shorts and student films (including "Gamine" and "Rude Awakening"), Jacob has worked as a conductor, arranger, orchestrator, and music editor. He was commissioned by the Southern Tier Symphony to write the opening piece for the orchestra's 6th season - "Enchanted Mountain Fantasy" premiered in October 2008. Jacob also recently produced and arranged songs for Abby Payne's second album, "In a Pretty Box" (available on iTunes). He performs regularly in the NY metro area and is a faculty member at the Rye Arts Center and the Music Academy of Mamaroneck. To hear clips, visit www.jacobpleakis.com.
