Funding

Church Street School for Music and Art is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. As such, we rely heavily on outside funding sources to support our programs and activities; tuition covers only about 88% of the school’s operating costs.

Our funding sources include grants from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Hyde & Watson Foundation, Edward S. Moore Foundation, Battery Park City Authority, as well as private gifts.

Our annual fundraising activities and events include a Silent Auction, Gingerbread House Decorating Workshops (acclaimed by the New York Times), and Faculty Concerts and Art Show. Church Street School’s 501(c)3 status allows us to accept tax-deductible donations, and fundraising is our ongoing challenge. If you are connected to a grant-giving organization or other potential funding sources, please contact our Associate Director, Betsy Kerlin, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Every form of support- whether grant, corporate sponsorship or individual gift- furthers our mission of providing high quality, affordable arts programming to the families of Lower Manhattan and New York City at large.
