Improv in New Media

This class will explore concepts of fundamental rhythm and sound-based interactive design. Armed with a field recorder and a microphone, the class will investigate their aural surroundings and record segments of environmental sounds. With the aid of computer software and a video camera they will then construct a movement based performance piece by assigning their recorded sound segments to specified "zones" within the camera frame and triggering the sounds with their movement and gestures.
